I was born and raised in Forest, MS where I lived from birth through completion of my first two years of college. I attended the Forest school system all twelve years, graduating from Forest High School in 1970. I then continued my education at Hinds Junior College as it was known in those days. Although my parents lived in Forest until their death many years later, for the most part Oxford became my home for the next three years while I attended Ole Miss, participated in band, and pursued a degree in pharmacy. I graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1975.
Upon graduation, I moved to Jackson and began my career as a pharmacist for a regional chain. Not long afterwards, I advanced to store manager and eventually managed the chain’s Highland Village location for many years. During this time, I enrolled in the Millsaps College MBA program from which I graduated in 1991. I eventually changed my direction to hospital pharmacy and accepted a position at the local VA Hospital, from which I retired in 2014. Prior to retiring from there, I began to consider business opportunities which led me to obtain my real estate license April, 2014. I began to transition from pharmacy to real estate because I enjoy greeting people and moving around outdoors. I continued to practice community retail pharmacy on a part time basis to supplement retirement income as I grew my real estate presence. I furthered my real estate knowledge and obtained my Broker License in 2017.
I am a member of the National Association of REALTORS, and specialize in residential sales, assisting both sellers and/or buyers. In either scenario, I am able to help my client reach another milestone in his or her journey through life. I work primarily in the Madison and Rankin County areas, but eventually hope to include the Oxford area as well. I find enjoyment helping first time buyers obtain their home, assisting a growing family transition to a larger home as their needs change, and guiding seniors who are downsizing in order to fully enjoy their retirement after decades of addressing their career and family needs.
For me, selling real estate is refreshing and exciting. I have flexibility in my schedule. I am not confined inside all day. I am able to visit with my clients. I get to know and develop ties with them. They get to fulfill a dream of theirs (upsize, downsize, move near their children, etc.) as the result of our collaboration. It’s a win-win situation for both of us.
